Little Minnesota Scavenger Hunt
Jill and Deane Johnson (former owners of Beagle Books) wrote a book called Little Minnesota about 100 towns with a population of 100 or less. Would you like to see how many of them you can visit this year, and to enhance the experiences you have at each town? If so, you may want to become a GPS "Geocacher." Hey, there are tools to help you.
Dick Kimball, one of Beagle Books' awesome customers, has created "waymarks" (aka geocaches) for EVERY town in Little Minnesota! Download these codes, then go to go to Waymarking.com. You need to set up a free membership. Once you're in, enter a code (such as WMEQ9Y) into the search box. |
Dorset's new Mayor!
Every year is an election year in Dorset; balloting for the Mayor of Dorset takes place all summer long. There are no residency or age requirements—it's not even necessary to be human. The winner gets a key to Dorset, gift certificates from Dorset businesses—and no responsibilities. Voting is as simple as filling out a ballot and attaching a dollar bill.
The 2012 election results were announced on August 5 at The Taste of Dorset. |
