Leger, Martin, and Olson
On Labor Day weekend, a trio of Minnesota writers visited
Sister Wolf to sign their books.
Dennis Leger (pictured on August 2) signed Milk Market.
Charlie Martin signed
Mayhem and Mischief Most Foul.
Jim Olson signed Boomer.

On August 22 author Jess Lourey did
a dual signing,
visiting both Beagle and Sister Wolf to sign September Fair.
This book, the fifth in the
Murder-by-Month series, unfolds at the Minnesota State Fair,
where the recently crowned Milkfed Mary, Queen of the Dairy,
a Battle Lake native, is murdered while getting her head
carved out of butter. Mira James, covering the pageant for
the Battle Lake Recall, overcomes her misanthropy to uncover
a deadly State Fair secret.

Taste of Dorset
The weather was unseasonably cool and, at times, wet—but that didn't stop the crowd which visited Dorset for our annual street festival. Food, entertainment, and games were available on the street.

Dennis Leger joined us to sign copies of his new book, Milk Wagon. |

Jim Pooebstle was present to sign copies of Absence of Honor.

Outside, artist Cari Johnson had a trunk show of her beautiful glass jewelry and The Friends of the Library sold raffle tickets for a quilt.

Monday, July 27
Lauraine Snelling
Dorset House opened its doors early for a brunch with Lauraine Snelling, sponsored by Sister Wolf. Lauraine gave an inspirational talk which was well-received by the appreciative crowd. Afterwards, we moved down the street to Sister Wolf, where Lauraine signed copies of her books. |

Joint potluck with Lin Enger
The Women's Books Groups gave Lin Enger a warm welcome to their joint meeting.Enger, the author of Undiscovered Country, talked about the process of writing and revising the book, gave insights into the characters, and answered questions about the book and his life as a teacher/writer.

Poet Margaret Hasse
Poetry appreciation is alive and well in northern Minnesota! Sister Wolf's Wolf Den was filled to capacity as a lively group gathered to greet poet Margaret Hasse. Margaret read some of her poems, led a discussion, and answered questions about her work.

Annual Pie-Baking Contest and Pie Auction at Beagle Books
This year's fund-raiser for the Park Rapids Public Library, co-sponsored by Beagle Books and the Friends of the Library, raised over $900!

Children's author William Durbin
Children's author William Durbin was with us to sign copies of his books: Winter War, El Lector, Blackwater Ben, Broken Blade, and Song of Sampo Lake.

An opportunity to meet an author is a great way to boost your child's interest in reading! Durbin's books are aimed at older elementary children.
